Seul 6 - Jardín Secreto

The Secret Garden of Seoul is situated behind Changdeokgung Palace. It was created in 1463 for the exclusive use and enjoyment of Korean kings and queens. It occupies about 78 acres, 60% of the extension of the Palace and houses more than 100 species of trees. The kings enjoyed playing in the garden and fishing in a small square pond (symbol of the land) in whose center sits a round island (symbol of heaven) among lotuses. Next to the pond, in the Juhammu pavilion, on two floors, the king had his library and reading room where he could meditate, study and relax.
Tourists roam passionately enjoying the harmony of the changing landscape in each season.




El Jardín Secreto de Seul se sitúa detrás del palacio Changdeokgung. Fue creado en 1463 para uso y disfrute exclusivo de los reyes y reinas de Corea. Ocupa unos 78 acres, un 60 % de la extensión del Palacio y alberga más de 100 especies de árboles. Los reyes disfrutaban jugando en el jardín y pescando en un pequeño estanque cuadrado (símbolo de la tierra) en cuyo centro asienta una isla redonda (símbolo del cielo) entre lotos. Junto al estanque, en el pabellón Juhammu, de dos plantas, tenía el rey su biblioteca y sala de lectura donde meditar, estudiar y relajarse.
Los turistas deambulan apasionadamente disfrutando de la armonía del paisaje cambiante en cada estación.

Seul 5 - Palacio Changdeokgung

Seoul 5. Changdeokgung Palace. This was the second palace built by the Joseon dynasty in 1405. The kings, under the protective sky, were integrated into the welcoming nature with a perfect feng shui: a mountain behind (Mount Bugaksan) and a stream ahead.
When visiting this palace you will enjoy a perfect harmony of the constructions with the natural surroundings. It was a royal residence for 200 years, destroyed and rebuilt several times, but trees of more than 300 years survive. It is accessed by the great Donhwamun gate and after crossing several doors and squares, you arrive at the main building, the Injeongjeon Hall, where the king received his guests.
In 1995 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Seul 5. Palacio Changdeokgung. Este fue el segundo palacio construído por la dinastía Joseon en 1405. Los reyes, bajo el cielo protector, se integraron en la naturaleza acogedora con un perfecto "feng shui": una montaña detrás (el monte Bugaksan) y un arroyo por delante.
Al visitar este palacio se disfruta de una perfecta armonia de las construcciones con el entorno natural. Fue residencia real durante más de 200 años, destruido y reconstruido en varias ocasiones, pero sobreviven árboles de más de 300 años. Se accede por la gran puerta Donhwamun y tras atravesar varias puertas y plazas, se llega al edificio principal, el salón Injeongjeon, donde el rey recibía a sus invitados.
En 1995 fue declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO.
